The M. B. Houghton family owned the house and several acres around the home. It was at Ann Street and Atlanta Hwy and considered quite a showplace. After the family moved or died, it was sold several times. I don't know the exact date but I'm sure it was right after WWII or the early 50's. Parts of the land was sold off. That's probably when the lions and other parts of the estate were sold. A pair of the driveway columns are in front of a home on Thomas Ave. Apartments were built in the front of it on the front lawn. It was magnificent then.
