Handsome Antique Flame Mahogany Secretary - 19th Century

Regular price $4,700.00

An Empire style flame Mahogany secretary-bookcase, with a pedimented cornice and dentil carved border. The top cupboard has two divided door glass panels with ornate scalloped top arches. Underneath the two upper glass panels are three long narrow drawers.  Below the desktop are two more drawers and below that are two large cupboard doors, a great feature for extra storage. This piece has aged very nicely, developing a rich patina and dark color.

The  secretary features a beautiful woodgrain. It is really a stunning piece. There are some veneer chips typical of Empire pieces from this era, mostly around the crown moulding and around the drawer fronts.

American ca 1840-50*

Dimensions: Look at the photos for idea of it's grand size.

The desktop surface is about 12" deep.

The secretary stands from the wall about 17 inches.

The width is about 35 inches from each corner

The length from the top of the secretary to the flat desk surface is about 47"

The height is about  8.5 feet  tall

Condition: Shows appropriate use wear, markings, there may some chipping and distressed areas. It does not impair the general integrity. Any antique over 100 years old will have some type of slight or minor imperfections or marks of character…..these time-acquired features often can intrigue collectors to ponder about how the piece must have been used and by whom....and add to the authenticity, charm, and desirability of the piece.

This is a very handsome piece and it would make a great addition to any home.
