The gilt base is in the Eastlake style, probably American and dating circa 1880-1900, with tapered legs of square section. The skirt is geometrically shaped and ornamented with incised carved lines in the Eastlake manner. The piece is fitted with a white marble mantel shelf, that top having been broken and repaired.

This gilt base is used with the mirror in #19 but is en suite with it.

Borrowing motifs from the Rococo and Renaissance era,. This is fine example of period furniture . The carved decoration , mirror with layered heavy cornice, applied turned molding trim. This style was popular in England, on the Continent, and in the U.S .
