Fine pair of cornices in grand Rococo style.
These decorative cornices were placed over a window or door in Rococo interiors. It is a first class high quality work of art with an elaborate floral and a highly stylized garland, scroll and leaf decoration on top. Stylized leafage and flowers rococo gilt frame with beautifully detailed relief work with foliage .
Extending with wood brackets at the back for hanging over each window. The ornate foliage and florals are exquisite. The center is an ornate crest, with more foliage at either end.
Motifs included rosettes, garlands, festoons and leaves. Rising upward the brilliant chased acanthus cartouche adorning each top is quite handsome. It is absolutely a stunning element from years ago. The intricate detail of the rosettes is magnificent. On the right and left sides of the cornices are motifs that include garlands, foliage accented by streamers, quite fashionable in its day. This type of cornice was probably once decked in the grand rooms for which it was designed. The ornaments in the form of a garlands of flowers was commonly used to accent windows. Observe the handsome embossing and the purity of the design.

Condition: Surface wear and scratches from use,with some minor dents in the embossing. These are very old pieces, and there may be imperfections from age so look closely at photos.
