Woven Wicker Caned Sofa in French Provincial style
This Woven Wicker Caned Sofa in French Provincial /Queen Anne style has two back panels with a woven cane insert.In between the two caned panels is mellow oak wood with carved rosette floral and garland motif. The cane is woven on frame seat,arms and back of the sofa.
On the front of the sofa’s skirt are additional carved florals. The sofa has nicely designed wood arms ,very deep seat, and elegant cabriole styled legs that taper. The back of the sofa has handsome wood fiddle design in the middle of the back panel.
Wonderfully shaped,with lovely details.
The method of hand caning is tedious and time-consuming to weave, but a lovely, strong and durable pattern when completed. Strand or hand caning is the most well known of the seat weaving designs and patterns.The term “chair seat weaving” encompasses many different types of weaving techniques, patterns and designs, with chair caning itself being only one type of chair seat weaving.The traditional seatweaving method is woven by hand with individual strands of cane, through holes drilled in the perimeter of the seat, thereby creating the familiar octagon (8-sided), pattern.

Condition:The sofa is structurally solid, with no breaks, The cane is in very good condition.Normal wear with consideration to the age of the sofa with minor scuffs.The sofa has temporary padding and would look great with down pillows covered in some attractive color and fabric.
